Kraft Named NE-10 Men’s Field Rookie of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University freshman Beau Kraft (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point HS) has been named the Men's Field Rookie of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference after his outstanding performance Saturday in the outdoor season-opening Tufts Snowflake Classic.

Kraft took first place in the discus with his 129'8" threw putting him at number one on the NE-10 performance list, number three on the Division II East Region list and number five in Bentley history in the event. In addition, he was ninth of 41 in the shot with his distance of 39'7" fourth best in the NE-10 to date, as well as number six in the East.

During the indoor season, Kraft placed ninth in the Northeast-10 Championships with a personal best 43'8.5".

Four of Kraft's teammates were named to the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll for their performance in the meet: senior Jacqueline Carlson (Kensington, Conn./Berlin HS), junior Connor Hichens (Sharon/Sharon HS), sophomore Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) and freshman Holt Sihvonen (Lebanon, Conn./ Lyman Memorial HS).

Carlson began her senior year by finishing third of 20 in the women's javelin with her throw of 110'2" putting her third on the NE-10 performance list. In the men's javelin, Sihvonen threw the javelin 158'10", the second best in the conference thus far, in his collegiate debut He finished third among 25 in the meet.

Haas finished first in a field of 92 in the 1500 meters with his time of 4:02.74 the fourth best in the NE-10 so far this spring. He won the race by 1.46 seconds. Hichens was second of 18 in the triple jump with his 43'10" performance also number four in the NE-10 thus far in 2015.

This Saturday, Bentley will compete in the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational.
