Skarin Named NE-10 Men’s Track Rookie of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following a first-place finish during the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational on Sunday, Bentley University freshman Nick Skarin (Sunapee, N.H./Sunapee HS) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Track Rookie of the Week.

In the Falcons' first meet in seven weeks, Skarin ran to victory in the open 800 meters with his time of 1:58.39 on Harvard University's Gordon Track a PR and more than four seconds faster than he recorded in last month's UMass-Boston Opener. He edged Holden Hammontree of Phillips Exeter by just two-hundredths of a second for the victory with his performance putting him ninth on the season's NE-10 performance list.

Skarin, who was third in the 800 at last year's New Hampshire state championships, made his collegiate debut last month at the UMass-Boston Indoor Open.

The Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll included two seniors on the Bentley women's team, Tara Dooley (Lee/Lee HS) and Brynnan Farrington (Shirley/Ayer HS).

During the GBTC meet at Harvard, Dooley placed seventh in the invitational mile with her time of 5:16.74 the sixth best posted in the Northeast-10 this season. She was the only collegian in the field. Farrington was second among collegians and third overall in the shot put, registering a throw of 36'9.75".

Bentley will compete in the John Thomas Terrier Classic this weekend at Boston University.
