Robinson Has Best Day 2 Finish for Bentley Men at Northeast-10 Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Craig Robinson (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough HS) had the best day two finish for the Bentley University men's outdoor track team as the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Championships concluded at Southern Connecticut State University Saturday.

Robinson established a new personal best of 9:35.46 while placing fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. That bettered his previous best by 3.21 seconds.

Bentley received seventh place finishes from both freshman Anthony Charter (Hubbardston, Mass./Quabbin Reg. HS) in the triple jump (41'8") and senior Tom Witherell (Los Alamos, N.M./Los Alamos HS) in the 5,000 meters (15:34.75).  Senior Steven Long (Newton, Mass./Newton North HS) earned an eighth in the shot put with a throw of 45 feet, 4.5 inches, and was also 11th in the discus (117'3").

Bentley's highest finish in the meet came on Friday when senior Gabe Campbell (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury HS) took second in the 10,000 with a time of 32:17.91.

The Falcons qualified for the New Englands in the 4x100 relay with the quartet of junior Derek Sit (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley HS), senior Mike Vatti (Easton, Pa./Easton HS), junior Bryan Carton (Norwell, Mass./Norwood HS) and sophomore Eric Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn./West Hartford HS) combining for a time of 43.26 seconds, finishing sixth overall.

In the team standings, Bentley was seventh of nine with 40 points. Southern Connecticut won the championship on its home track, with the Owls' 219 good for a 69-point margin of victory over number two UMass-Lowell.
