Charter Leads Bentley during Tufts Snowflake Classic

MEDFORD, Mass. – Freshman Anthony Charter (Hubbardston/Quabbin Reg. HS) led the Bentley University men's outdoor track team during Saturday's Tufts University Snowflake Classic, with a first-place performance in the long jump and a second in the triple jump.

Charter's leap of 21 feet, 2.25 inches in the long jump elevated him to eighth on Bentley's all-time list in the event and his 43 feet, 7.5 inch triple jump was the fifth best performance in the program's history.

Charter's afternoon also included running a leg on Bentley's 4x100 relay team that was fourth in 52.03 seconds. That quartet also included senior Andy Gauthier (Dracut/Central Catholic HS), freshman Andrew Hoey (Centerport, N.Y./St. Anthony's HS) and sophomore Eric Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn./Northwest Catholic HS).

Kennedy qualified for the finals in the 100 meters and placed seventh overall in 11.50 seconds.

Bentley also received a top-ten finish from freshman Mark Nelson (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./ Pinecrest School), who was fifth of 43 in the 400 in 52.03 seconds.

Next Saturday, the Falcons will be at UMass-Lowell for the George Davis Invitational.
