Kusmin, Long Record Top Day 1 Finishes for Bentley at NE-10 Meet

LOWELL, Mass. -- Sixth-place finishes by senior David Kusmin (Westwood/Westwood HS) and junior Steven Long (Allston/Newton North HS) were the best recorded by Bentley University during day one of the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held Friday at UMass-Lowell.

Kusmin completed in the long jump, with his distance of 22 feet, 2.25 inches just a quarter-inch shy of his personal best.  Long threw the discus 126 feet, 3 inches, also resulting in a sixth-place finish.

In the 10,000 meters, senior Steve Gendron (Lowell/Lowell HS) and sophomore Sean Maguire (Essex, Vt./Essex HS) were seventh and ninth, respectively. Gendron finished in 33:26.65, and Maguire's time was 33:58.47.

Senior Tim Walant (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North HS) was seventh in the prelims of the 110 meter hurdles, which qualified him for Saturday's finals in that event.

The championships will continue on Saturday, with the first event getting underway at 10:30 am.
