Kennedy Top Finisher for Bentley at Brown Springtime Open

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Freshman Eric Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn./Northwest Catholic HS) had the highest finishes for a member of the Bentley University outdoor track teams during Sunday's Brown University Springtime Open

Kennedy was second of 23 in the 200 meters with his time of 22.46 seconds putting him across the finish line 0.13 seconds after Harvard's Jared Kadich. He was also fourth of 19 in the 100 meters, finishing in 11.25 seconds.

Senior Tim Walant (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North HS) was fourth of 11 in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15,89 seconds and also ran the 400 hurdles in 60.73 seconds.

Junior Steven Long (Allston, Mass./Newton North HS) was seventh of 14 in the shot put (45'2.5") and seventh of 12 in the discus (125'2"). Senior Marcus Chang (West Newton/Newton North HS) competed in the same events and had throws of 38 feet, 7.5 inches in the shot (10th) and 116 feet, six inches in the discus (8th).

The only member of Bentley's women's team to compete was freshman Audrey Batzinger (Wallingford, Conn./Lyman Hall). She threw the discus 107 feet, six inches to finish 10th of 15, with eight of the nine in front of her from Division I institutions.

Bentley will compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships Friday and Saturday at UMass-Lowell.
