4 Bentley Men Qualify for New Englands Friday at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Bentley University men's track team launched its outdoor season Friday at the one of the Southeast's premier meets, the adidas Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State University's Paul Derr Track, and received several strong performances.

In fact, all four Bentley runners who competed met a qualifying standard for next month's New England Championships.

Three Falcons were among 32 competitors in the 10,000 meters, with sophomore Teddy Farley (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough HS) leading the way. He was second amongst Division II entrants and was 19th overall, with a time of 31:59.57 in his first collegiate race at that distance.

Senior Sean Reagan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus HS) was right behind him, placing fourth among Division II runners and 20th overall in 32:00.29, and classmate Steve Gendron (Lowell, Mass./Lowell HS) finished in 32:23.28, 25th overall and eighth among Division II athletes. Both set new PRs by more than a minute, Gendron beating his previous best by 68 seconds and Reagan surpassing his best time by 101 seconds.

In the 5,000, sophomore John Drago (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) was seventh of 21 in his section and 40th of 87 overall with his time of 14:56.22 an outdoor personal best by about 20 seconds. Only four Division II runners turned in a better time.

The meet will conclude on Saturday.
