Trueb, Varsell Will Represent Bentley in the NCAA Div. II Indoor Track Championships

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Record-setting sophomores Curtis Trueb (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester HS) and Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) will represent Bentley University at the 2011 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. March. 11-12,.

Varsell has the fourth best seed time in the 800 meters at 2:11.93, and Trueb is number five on the list in the mile, with a time of 4:08.12. A total of 12 runners are entered in the 800 and there are 13 who'll compete in the mile.

Varsell broke the school record in the 800 three times in a 10-day period. She posted a 2:15.35 to win the Northeast-10 championship, bettering the record that Suzy Walsh had owned since 1994 by 0.39 seconds. She improved on that with a 2:14.24 in the prelims of the New Englands on Friday and reduced that by 2.31 seconds while finishing fourth in the New Englands Saturday.

Trueb's indoor season has included a school record 4:09.06 in the mile at the Boston University Terrier Classic on Jan. 29, a 4:08.12 at week later at the Yale Giegengack Invitational and a school record 2:25.53 in the 1000 meters Feb. 12 at the BU Valentine's Invitational. He also captured the championship in the mile at the Northeast-10 Conference championships.

Trueb is Bentley man to compete in the indoor nationals since Stephan Ramirez in 2006, and Varsell is the first Falcon woman to reach the indoor nationals since Walsh in 1994.

Both are slated to run in prelims on Friday, March 11, with the men's mile at 6:35 pm ET (4:35 MT) and the women's 800 at 7:50 pm ET (5:50 MT).  The finals of both events will be the following day.
