Trueb Makes it 3 Records in 3 Weeks

BOSTON, Mass. -- For the third time in three weeks, Bentley University sophomore Curtis Trueb (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester HS) has set a school record.

The latest came in the 1000 meters during the men's portion of the Boston University Valentine's Invitational Saturday afternoon at the BU Track and Tennis Center.

Trueb, who broke the Bentley mile record each of the last two weeks, posted a time of 2:25.53 to surpass the standard that Adam Manoli had owned since the 1999 New Englands by 0.95 seconds. It was the best 1000 mark recorded by a Northeast-10 Conference runner this winter by more than three seconds.

Trueb finished third of 78 runners in the event, trailing only a pair of Canadians, Tommy Lecours of Guelph (2:24.21) and Jean-Sam Lapointe of Laval (2:24.82).

In the triple jump, Bentley senior Dave Kusmin (Westwood/Westwood HS) had the Northeast-10's third best performance of the season, with his leap of 42 feet, 8 inches good for 12th in a field of 22.

Sophomore John Drago (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) had the NE-10's fifth best 3,000 thus far, with his PR time of 8:36.74 the second fastest by a Falcon this season. He placed 66th among 105 runners in the event.

Bryan Carton (Norwell/Norwell HS), also a sophomore, established new PRs in both the 200 meters (23.21) and the 500 (1:06.58), with the latter elevating him to eighth on Bentley's all-time list in the event. He was 30th of 57 in the 500 and 74th of 172 in the 200.

Another personal best was posted by sophomore Craig Robinson (Scarborough, Maine./ Scarborough HS) in the mile. His time of 4:18.92 produced a 59th place finish in a field of 199.

Senior Steven Long (Allston/Newton North HS) was 18th of 47 in the shot put with a throw of 44 feet, 7 inches, and junior Mike Vatti (Easton, Pa./Easton Area HS) placed 54th of 161 in the 400 with a time of 50.15 seconds.

Bentley will compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships Thursday night at the Reggie Lewis Center.
