Fadul Wins Twice but Bentley Drops a Tough One to Franklin Pierce, 5-2

Nashua, N.H. – Senior Mauricio Fadul (Miami, Fla.) won in both singles and doubles, but the Bentley men's tennis team dropped a tough one to Franklin Pierce on Thursday afternoon by a 5-2 score.

Fadul teamed with junior Alex Novins (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) in the No. 3 doubles match, and the pair defeated Franklin Pierce's Nkrumah Patrick and Yuval Barak, 7-6.

The Ravens though won in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, and thus took the doubles point for a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

In singles Bentley won the No. 5 and No. 6 matches, behind Fadul and freshman Gabe Horowitz (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lake Oswego). Fadul outdueled Barak in No. 5 in three sets, 6-3, 1-6, 6-1. Horowitz swept past Patrick in No. 6, 6-3, 6-1.

The No. 3 singles match between Bentley's Max Bonte (Bradenton, Fla./St. Stephens) and FPU's Ivan Bernal went to three sets. Bonte took the first set 7-5, but Bernal rallied and won the next two sets 7-6 and 6-3.

The other singles matches had seniors Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) and Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) in the top two matches, and Novins in the No. 4 position.

The regular season is now in the books, and Bentley will prepare for the NE10 playoffs which begin on Saturday.
