Merrimack Tops Bentley 4-0 in NE10 Semis

Andover, Mass. – No. 3 seed Merrimack advanced to the NE10 finals with a 4-0 victory over No. 2 seeded Bentley on Thursday in a NE10 semifinals match, played indoors at the Spark Fitness Center.

Merrimack took the early lead with the doubles point, then won three in singles to clinch the match before Bentley could respond.

In No. 1 doubles, Merrimack's team of Denis Davydov and Conrad Koch defeated seniors Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) and Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) 6-1. In No. 2, Jonathan Garcia and Alex Fedorov got the better of sophomores Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) and Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket), 6-3.

In the No. 3 match, Bentley's team of Nick Hatcher (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) and Mauricio Fadul (Key Biscayne, Fla.) led Alec Mackay and Marshall Wood 5-4, before the match was halted as Merrimack had already clinched the doubles point.

The singles matches that finished saw Davydov defeat Granat in No. 1 by a 6-1, 7-5 score. Garcia defeated Weitz in No. 2, 6-4, 6-2, and Koch slipped past Aulson in No. 4, 6-4, 6-4.

Fuca won the first set against Fedorov in No. 3, 7-5, but the match did not finish.

Merrimack will now face Southern New Hampshire in the NE10 finals on Saturday, after the Penmen defeated Le Moyne 4-2 in the day's other semifinal match.

Bentley's record dropped to 15-8. They were ranked 6th in the latest NCAA East Region rankings released on Wednesday.
