Southern N.H. Snaps Bentley’s Winning Streak

Hooksett, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire, ranked 4th in the East Region, snapped Bentley's four match winning streak on Thursday with a 7-0 victory.

The two teams came into the match with the top two records in the NE10, with the Penmen 5-0 and Bentley 4-0, but it was the hosts that came away with their unbeaten record still intact.

After the Penmen won the doubles point, the teams battled in singles play. The No. 1 match between Bentley's Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) and Southern's Tiago Fernandes went three sets. Granat won the first set 6-4, and Fernandes reversed that score in the second set. Fernandes though took the deciding third set 10-4 to win the match.

The No. 2 and No. 4 matches were close as well. Southern's Willem Van Biezen edged sophomore Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y/Roslyn) 6-4, 6-4 in No. 2, and Bas Van Biezen slipped past sophomore Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) 6-4, 7-5 in No. 4.

Bentley will look to get back in the win column on Saturday when they host Franklin Pierce at noon, which will be the team's Senior Day.
