Bentley Sweeps Past Assumption, 7-0

Worcester, Mass. – Bentley men's tennis got its Northeast-10 schedule off to a strong start with a 7-0 sweep at Assumption on Saturday.

Bentley won all six singles matches in straight sets, and won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to secure the doubles point.

Seniors Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) and Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) claimed the No. 2 doubles match over Jameson Keppeler and Brandon Sze 7-5, while Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) and Kendall Au (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) took down Mike Butkus and Jacob Lawrence 6-2 in No. 3.

In singles, senior Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) won the No. 1 match over Max Francis 6-4, 6-0. Weitz and Gilman won their second matches of the day in singles, Weitz 6-4, 6-2 over Reb Mariano in No. 2 and Gilman 6-1, 6-1 over Lawrence in No. 4.

Alexander Novins (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) cruised past Keppeler in No. 5 by a 6-1, 6-1 score, and senior Nick Hatcher (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Luke Whitehouse in No. 6.

The Falcons improved to 8-4 and 1-0 NE10 with the victory, and continue their NE10 schedule on Wednesday when they host Saint Anselm.
