Hatcher, Fadul Rubod Win in Doubles in Bentley’s Match with Villanova

Beverly, Mass. – The Bentley men's tennis team played its first home match of the spring season against Division I and Big East member Villanova, and the visiting Wildcats emerged with a hard-fought 7-0 victory.

The Wildcats claimed the doubles point, but Bentley's team of Nick Hatcher (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) and Mauricio Fadul Rubod (Key Biscayne, Fla.) won in No. 3 over Daniel Martinez and Mike Czlonka, 6-2. In No. 1, Bentley's team of Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) and Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) had match point on Tommy Mulfur and Stefan Suarez, but the Wildcats staved it off and eventually won 7-6. The No. 2 doubles match was close as well, but the visitor's Charlie Schuls and Dylan Flanagan edged Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) and Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) 6-4.

Villanova then won the six singles matches in straight sets. The Wildcats improved to 6-2 on the season with the win.

Bentley (2-3) will resume its spring season on Saturday, March 2 against Endicott.
