Samander and Aulson Win Twice to Lead Bentley Past Adelphi 5-4

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao) and freshman Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) each posted two wins to lead the Bentley men's tennis team to a 5-4 victory over Adelphi in the final match of the regular season.

The Falcons, who had already secured a playoff spot prior to today, finished the regular season with a 5-4 record in Northeast-10 matches. That gives them the No. 5 seed in the NE10 Championships, and sets up a first round match with No. 4 seed Franklin Pierce on Tuesday.

In today's win over the Panthers, Bentley took the early advantage with two out of three victories in doubles. Samander and Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) won the No. 1 match, 8-5 over Sabin Saveluc and Matteo Cannavera. Aulson and junior Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) teamed for an 8-3 win in No. 3 over Connor Dove and Robres de Veciana.

Three wins in singles were enough for Bentley to sew up the match. Aulson's 6-2, 6-0 victory in No. 6 was his 12th singles victory in a row, and he finished the regular season with a 6-0 NE10 singles record.

Samander's second win of the day came in the form of a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Saveluc in No. 2, while Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) was a 6-4, 6-1 winner in No. 5 to help Bentley secure the match.
