Franklin Pierce Rallies in Singles to Top Bentley

RINDGE, N.H. – Franklin Pierce won four of six singles matches to rally past the Bentley men's tennis team for a narrow 5-4 victory on Saturday in a Northeast-10 matchup.

Bentley led 2-1 after doubles play, but the Ravens took four of six in singles to rally for the victory.

In doubles, Bentley won the No. 2 and 3 matches. The No. 2 pairing of Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) and Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) defeated Yuval Barak and Marcus Lawrence 8-1. The No. 3 pairing of Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) and Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) got the better of James Bisazza and Matt Toombs 8-3.

In singles, freshmen Weitz and Aulson claimed the points for Bentley. Weitz defeated Andrew Schadt 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in the No. 4, and Aulson defeated Toombs in three sets in No. 6, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.

The Falcons dropped to 12-7 overall and had their three match winning streak snapped. Their NE10 record is now 4-3. The team is back on the courts tomorrow for a non-conference match when they host Division I Holy Cross, starting at 11:00 am.
