Bentley Drops Match at NE10 Rival Le Moyne, 6-3

DeWITT, N.Y. – Bentley University had its four match winning streak snapped on Saturday with a 6-3 defeat to Northeast-10 rival Le Moyne on the road.

The match marked the start of the Falcons entering the NE10 portion of their schedule after they returned from going 4-1 on their Florida spring break trip.

Le Moyne took the early advantage by winning two of the three doubles matches. Though the Falcons did win the No. 1 match behind the team of seniors Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao). They defeated Philip Blythe and Hallam Doney 8-2.

Bentley was then unable to rally in singles as the Dolphins won four of six matches. Freshman Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) saw his 11 match singles winning streak snapped by Jason Barton in the No. 4 match, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

The wins in singles for Bentley came from freshman Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) and junior Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex). Aulson defeated Doney in the No. 5 match, 6-2, 6-3, and Fuca got the better of Christian Erickson in the No. 6 match, 8-0.

Bentley is now 9-5 overall and 1-1 in the NE10. They will be back on the courts Tuesday at Merrimack.
