Bentley Overcomes Webber International 6-3

BABSON PARK, Fla. – Bentley University used a strong effort in singles to overcome hosts Webber International 6-3 on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference men's tennis match.

The Warriors won two of three in doubles for a 2-1 lead, but Bentley fought back and took five of the six singles matches, to win the match 6-3 overall. Three of the singles matches Bentley players won featured comebacks after losing the first set.

The match of the day belonged to junior Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) in No. 3 singles, who overcame Matt Alexander in three sets. Alexander won the first set 6-2, and Granat took the second set 6-1. The two then went back and forth in a third set tiebreak that involved 36 points, with Granat finally winning it 19-17.

Senior George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao) and freshman Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) also overcame first set deficits. Samander defeated Ivan Bonderanko in the No. 2 match, 4-6, 6-2, 10-5. Aulson rallied past Marc Schneider in the No. 4 match, 2-6, 6-2, 10-8.

The other singles winners for Bentley on the day were Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) in the No. 4 match, 6-3, 6-1 over Lucas Bingenheimer, and Nick Hatcher (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) in the No. 6 match, 7-5, 6-2.

The win improved Bentley's record to 7-4 overall and 2-1 on its Florida trip. They will be in action again tomorrow night against the University of the Sciences in Orlando at 7:00 pm.
