Bentley Sweeps Past Saint Michael’s 9-0
COLCHESTER, Vt. – Eight different players won a match to help the Bentley men's tennis team sweep Saint Michael's 9-0 on Saturday up in Vermont in the Falcons' first Northeast-10 match of the season.
The Falcons dominated singles play. Three players dropped just one game, one match was a sweep, and the other two matches saw Bentley win all but two and three games, respectively.
Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth), freshman Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) and Kendall Au (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) each won their matches by dropping only one game; McCarthy in the No. 1 match, Aulson in No. 4 and Au in No. 5.
Nicholas Hatcher (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) breezed to a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in the No. 6 match, while Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner in the No. 3 position. Senior George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the No. 2 match.
In doubles, McCarthy and Samander took the No. 1 match 8-3, Granat and Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) took the No. 2 match 8-5 and Au and Hatcher dominated the No. 3 match 8-1.
Bentley, which improved its record to 4-3 and won its first NE10 match of the season, is right back in action tomorrow when they visit Endicott in a non-conference match.
