Bentley Dominates in Singles in Sweep of Salem State

 

SALEM, Mass. – Bentley dropped just three games total in the six singles matches as part of a 9-0 sweep of Salem State in a non-conference men's tennis match on Wednesday.

Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn), Kendall Au (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) and Nick Hatcher (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) all recorded 6-0, 6-0 victories for head coach Rick Edelmann's club, as the Falcons won with ease in their first dual match of the season. Weitz was playing in the No. 3 match, and Au and Hatcher in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches, respectively.

Seniors Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao) and junior Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) each recorded 6-0, 6-1 wins in the other singles matches. McCarthy was playing in the No. 1 match, Samander No. 2 and Granat No. 4

In doubles play, McCarthy and Samander swept to an 8-0 victory in the No. 1 match. Weitz and Granat teamed for an 8-3 decision in the No. 2 position, and Au and Hatcher combined for an 8-1 win in the No. 3 match.

With the win under their belt, the Falcons will play their home opener on Sunday against Post at 1:00 pm.
