So. New Hampshire Knocks Bentley Out of Northeast-10 Championship

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Top seed Southern New Hampshire knocked Bentley out of the Northeast-10 Men's Tennis Championship in the semifinals on Thursday by a 5-0 score.

The Falcons, seeded fourth and coming off a 5-1 win over Le Moyne in the first round on Tuesday, faced a tough deficit to overcome after the Penmen won all three doubles matches. They then took the No. 2 and No. 4 singles matches to close out the match.

Bentley's closest match in doubles came in the No. 3 position from sophomores Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) and Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah), who dropped a tough one to Bas Van Biezen and Jeremy Reichentahl, 9-7.

Southern's other wins in doubles were Tiago Fernandes and Ricardo Marreiros, over Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) in the No. 1 match, 8-5. The other was Xavier Aubron and Miguel Marreiros over Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick) and Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) in the No. 2 match, 8-2.

The singles matches that finished were Ricardo Marreiros over Samander in the No. 2 match, 6-1, 6-1, and Aubron over Rosa in the No. 4 match, 6-4, 6-3.
