Samander, Gilman Win Twice as Bentley Tops Le Moyne 6-3

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley earned a key Northeast-10 win on Saturday with a 6-3 victory over Le Moyne. Junior George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) and sophomore Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) each won twice.

Bentley won two of the three doubles matches, from Samander and Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) in the No. 1 spot, and Gilman and Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) in the No. 3 spot. McCarthy and Samander topped Hallam Doney and Philip Blythe, 9-7, and Gilman and Fuca defeated James Gayvert and Tyler Underwood, 9-8.

The Falcons then built on that advantage with four of six singles wins. Samander was the team's top winner, with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Gayvert in the No. 2 match. Sophomore Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) fought back in the No. 3 match after dropping the first set to grab a 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 victory over Blythe. Senior Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick) posted a 6-3, 6-1 win over Josh Sagaille in the No. 4 match.

Gilman claimed his second victory of the day, as he defeated Steven Procopio in the No. 6 position 6-2, 6-3.

With the win, Bentley improved to 9-6 overall and 4-3 in NE10 matches. They will play a non-conference match on Sunday against Holy Cross, before getting back into NE10 matches on Wednesday at Assumption.
