Bentley Scores 7-2 Win at Nichols in First Fall Dual Match

DUDLEY, Mass. – Three different players, George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC), Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah HS) and freshman Kendall Au (Essex Falls, N.J./West Essex HS), won in both singles and doubles to power the Bentley University men's tennis team past Nichols 7-2 in a non-conference match on Monday.

It was the first dual match of the fall season for the Falcons, who officially began their season two weekends ago at the UConn Invitational.

Samander, along with Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS), were victorious in No. 1 doubles by an 8-4 score. Samander then picked up his second win of the afternoon in No. 2 singles, with a straight sets 6-2, 6-2 victory over Brandon Howard.

Bentley's other winners in doubles play were Gilman and Au, who defeated Kirill Ivanov and Aidan Stuart, 8-2 in the No. 3 match. In singles, Gilman topped James Smith in the No. 5 match 7-6, 6-1, while Au defeated Peter Coletti 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 6 spot.

The Falcons' other singles winners on the day were senior Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick HS) in the No. 3 match, 6-2, 6-2, and Michael Fuca (Manchester/Manchester-Essex) in the No. 4 match by a 6-2, 6-2 score.

Bentley will next be in action on Wednesday night when they take on Salem State in Marblehead, Mass.
