Bentley Sweeps Past AIC in Regular Season Finale

WOBURN, Mass. – Bentley closed out the 2015-16 regular season with a 9-0 sweep of Northeast-10 rival AIC on Saturday afternoon indoors at the Woburn Athletic Club. The team will go into the NE-10 Championship as the No. 4 seed and on a four-match winning streak.

With the victory, the Falcons closed the regular season with a 15-6 overall record and 7-3 conference mark. They will play Le Moyne on Wednesday at home in the first round of the postseason.

Sophomore Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) led the way with wins in both the No. 1 doubles and singles matches. In doubles, he teamed with George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) for an 8-6 victory, while in singles he felled Ricardo Ruiz 7-5, 6-0.

In the No. 2 match, Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) powered past James Worall for a 6-3, 7-5 (7-4) win. In the No. 3-No. 6 matches, Bentley's four players dropped just two matches combined. Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick), Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) and Jerry Liang (Shanghai, China/Shanghai) were all 6-0, 6-0 winners in the No. 3, 5 and 6 matches respectively.

Bentley and Le Moyne played back in the fall, on Oct. 4 in Syracuse, which Bentley won 7-2.
