Southern N.H. Uses Doubles to Top Bentley 6-3

WALTHAM, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire used a sweep of the doubles matches to edge Bentley 6-3 in the Falcons first Northeast-10 match of the spring. The teams split the six singles matches 3-3.

After the Penmen led 3-0 after doubles play, Bentley would have needed to win five of the six singles matches, but the Penmen did enough to emerge with the 6-3 victory. The defeat is Bentley's first in Northeast-10 play this season and drops its record to 2-1.

Bentley's winners in singles were Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset), Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) and Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah). Granat rallied to win the No. 4 match after dropping the first set, 4-6, 7-6, 10-8. Fuca swept past Sebastian Ramirez in the No. 5 match, 6-3, 6-1, while Gilman took the No. 6 match over opponent Jeremy Reichentahl 6-2, 6-3.

Bentley's overall record drops to 9-4 on the season. They're back on the courts on Friday for a non-conference match at Post.
