McCarthy & Granat Claim Northeast-10 Awards

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley's Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) claimed weekly awards from the Northeast-10, the conference announced Tuesday. McCarthy was named Men's Tennis Player of the Week and Granat the Rookie of the Week.

McCarthy is the Player of the Week for the second straight time. In helping the Falcons to wins over Division I Holy Cross and Daemen last week, he went 4-0 in his matches overall. He took victories in No. 1 singles in both matches, including by a 6-1, 6-0 score against Holy Cross. In doubles, he teamed George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) for a pair of wins in the No. 1 slot in both matches.

Granat was 3-0 overall last week. Against Holy Cross, he was a 6-2, 6-0 winner in No. 3 singles. In the match against Daemen, he was a 6-2, 6-1 winner in No. 2 singles after teaming with Kamil Pilch (Wroclaw, Poland/IMG Pendleton) for an 8-3 victory in the No. 2 match.

McCarthy is 6-1 in singles overall this season and Granat is 5-1.

Bentley's next match is at Northeast-10 rival Franklin Pierce on Friday afternoon.
