Bentley Cruises Past Salve Regina 9-0 in Opener

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley men's tennis team got its season off to a winning start Tuesday with a 9-0 victory over Salve Regina in a non-conference match. Three players for the Falcons won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0.

Sophomore Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) was one of the three not to drop a game, defeating Jack Lawlor in the No. 1 match. Sophomore George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao) did likewise in the No. 3 match, as did debutant Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) in the No. 5 match.

In doubles action, freshmen Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) and Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) made a winning debut, with an 8-4 victory in the No. 2 match.

Bentley next heads to the UConn Invitational in Storrs, Conn., which gets underway on Friday.
