Bentley Tops Northeast-10 Rival Assumption 7-2

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley men's tennis team scored a 7-2 victory over visiting Assumption on Thursday afternoon in a Northeast-10 matchup.  Three different Falcons won in both singles and doubles.

Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth), George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) and Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick) were the three that won twice, helping the Falcons improve to 2-1 in Northeast-10 play, and 6-5 overall.

McCarthy and Samander teamed to give Bentley an 8-1 win in the No. 2 doubles match over Marco Leung and Tom Knight. In the No. 3 doubles match, Rosa and Sam Frye (Redlands, Calif./Redlands) defeated Casey Hodor and Jakob Zylak 8-0 in a sweep.

In singles, McCarthy defeated Leung 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 in the No. 2 match, while Samander was a 6-0, 6-2 winner in the No. 3 match. Rosa claimed his second win of the day, sweeping the No. 4 match from Zylak 6-0, 6-0.

Bentley's other singles winners were Evan Chomka (Warwick, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) in the No. 5 match, 6-1, 6-1, and Felipe Palacios (Bogota, Columbia) in the No. 6 match, 6-3, 6-2.

The Falcons are back in action Friday afternoon when they visit AIC for a 3:00 pm match.
