Samander Wins Two, But Bentley Falls to Eckerd 7-2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Freshman George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) won two matches on the day, but the Bentley men's tennis team was beaten by Eckerd College 7-2 in a non-conference match on Saturday to conclude the team's spring break trip.

Samander first teamed with freshman Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) for a win in doubles. In the No. 2 match, they bested the team of Stephen Felman and Victor Appelqvist 8-5.

Samander was then victorious in the No. 1 singles match as he defeated Yousa Adiyassa. Samander cruised in the first set, winning 6-2. He then finished it off with a 6-4 win in the second set.

Eckerd picks up its third win in a row and improves to 5-4 on the season, while the Falcons drop to 5-4. Bentley's next match is a week from Tuesday, on the 24th as they resume Northeast-10 play with a visit to American International.
