WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley freshman Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) has been named both the Northeast-10 Men's Tennis Co-Player and Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

McCarthy and the Falcons opened their fall season at the UConn Invitational against Division I opposition. McCarthy competed in the A singles consolation tournament, and came away with two wins to reach the finals.

He defeated Darren Reisch of Siena 8-6 to reach the semifinals, where he knocked off Justin Pagan of Sacred Heart 8-6 to make the finals, where his run came to an end against Bryant's Rich Sipala.

McCarthy shares the awards this week with Stonehill's Thomas Bellio.

Bentley is back in action on Friday when they visit Salve Regina in a non-conference match.
