Bentley Falls to So. New Hampshire 5-1 in Northeast-10 Semifinals

GOFFSTOWN, N.H. – The Bentley University men's tennis team suffered a 5-1 defeat to Southern New Hampshire in the semifinals of the 2014 Northeast-10 Men's Tennis Championship on Thursday afternoon.

Bentley took a point out of doubles play, winning the No. 3 match, to trail only 2-1 heading into singles play. But Southern proved too strong in that portion of the match, taking the No. 1, 2 and 4 matches to advance to Saturday's final against either Merrimack or Adelphi.

The Penmen took the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches. The No. 2 match was a big turning point, as Juan Arango-Campo and Alex Mukdaprakorn rallied past seniors Jimmy Rindo (Lowell, Mass./Lowell) and Andrew Waddington (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) to win it 9-7. After the No. 1 and No. 2 matches finished, Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick Academy) and Sam Frye (Redlands, Calif./Redlands) won the No. 3 match for the Falcons, beating Mark Dobek and Evan Eaton 8-6.

The No. 2 singles match was the first to finish, with Arango-Campo giving the Penmen a 3-1 lead with a 6-1, 6-2 win over sophomore Kamil Pilch (Wroclaw, Poland/IMG Pendleton). The No. 4 match was the next to finish with Mukdaprakorn defeating Rosa 6-1, 6-1. Senior Mitch Dobek then clinched it for the Penmen with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Rindo in the No. 1 match.

The Falcons' record goes to 11-8, while the Penmen improve to 17-5.
