WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University begins its quest for the Northeast-10 Men's Tennis Championship on Tuesday afternoon when they host Assumption in a first round match at 2:00 pm. The Falcons enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed, while the Greyhounds are No. 6.

Bentley went 8-2 in Northeast-10 matches and started out 7-0. They were one of three teams to post an 8-2 conference record, and they finished ahead of No. 4 Adelphi and behind No. 2 Southern New Hampshire based on the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Hounds went 5-5 in conference matches and finished one game better than Le Moyne to claim the last playoff spot.

Included in that 7-0 start for Bentley was a 5-4 victory over Assumption at home on March 19. The key was the Falcons winning four of six singles matches, after the Greyhounds went 2-1 in doubles. Senior Jimmy Rindo (Lowell, Mass./Lowell), one of Bentley's five All-Conference selections, won the No. 1 singles match. Sam Frye (Redlands, Calif./Redlands), Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick Academy) and Evan Chomka (Warwick, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) also took wins in singles in the No. 4, No.5 and No. 6 matches, respectively. Rosa teamed with senior Andrew Waddington (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) to give Bentley it's point in doubles in the No. 3 match.

Seniors Rindo and Waddington led the way as five Bentley players earned third team All-Conference honors in singles, and they occupied the top two singles positions. All five Bentley players that played at least eight Northeast-10 singles matches finished with a record better than .500. The other three were Rosa, Chomka and sophomore Kamil Pilch (Wroclaw, Poland/IMG Pendleton), and they were all named All-Conference as well. Freshman Marco Leung was the only Greyhound to receive an All-Conference selection. He was picked to the second team in No. 3 singles after going 5-0 in that flight, and he was also chosen to the All-Rookie team.

The Falcons will be looking to advance to the Northeast-10 semifinals for the sixth straight season. They claimed the Northeast-10 title in 2010 and 2011 and have gone 46-4 in conference regular season matches since the 2009-10 season.

The other first round match on Tuesday will see No. 4 Adelphi host No. 5 Stonehill. The winner of Bentley/Assumption match will visit No. 2 seed Southern New Hampshire in the semifinals on Thursday, while the Adelphi/Stonehill victor will face No. 1 Merrimack. The championship match takes place on Saturday at 1:00 pm at the highest remaining seed.
