Ribeiro & Chomka Win Singles Matches, But Bentley Beaten by Merrimack 7-2

WOBURN, Mass. – Senior Rodrigo Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Chapel School) and freshman Evan Chomka (Warwick, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) won their singles matches, but Bentley University was beaten by Merrimack 7-2 on Wednesday in a Northeast-10 men's tennis match.

It was a rematch of last year's NE-10 championship match and a matchup of two teams that could very well get there again this season, with Merrimack coming into the day in first place in the conference and Bentley tied for second. But the Warriors came away with the 7-2 victory to stay unbeaten in the NE-10 at 8-0. Bentley drops to 6-2.

Merrimack won all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead into singles. But despite the wins by Ribeiro and Chomka, the Falcons could not make up the deficit.

Ribeiro defeated freshman Miguel Belfort in the No. 1 match in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 10-5. Chomka got the better of senior Chris Toegemann in the No. 6 match in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5.

The Falcons close out the regular season on Saturday when they host Southern New Hampshire.
