Ribeiro, Pilch Help Bentley Top Stonehill 5-4

EASTON, Mass. – Senior Rodrigo Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Chapel School) and freshman Kamil Pilch (Wroclaw, Poland/IMG Pendleton) each won two matches, and were the only two Falcons to win in singles, as the Bentley University men's tennis team defeated Northeast-10 rival Stonehill 5-4 on Wednesday.

Bentley swept the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead into singles play, though it was close as all three matches went to a tiebreak. Ribeiro and Pilch teamed for a top-flight win over Eric Ringstad and Chris Martin 9-8 (7-4). Junior Jimmy Rindo (Lowell, Mass./Lowell) and sophomore Raghav Tanna (Burlington, Mass./Burlington) beat Nick Hyzak and Thomas Alaimo 9-8 (10-8), and junior Andrew Waddington (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) and sophomore Alex DeMuth (Shaker Heights, Ohio/University School) defeated Philip Klados and Brett Armstrong 9-8 (11-9).

Though Stonehill got the better of singles play, winning four of six matches, it was the efforts of Ribeiro and Pilch that gave the Falcons the victory.

Ribeiro beat Ringstad in the top-flight match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3, and Pilch won a battle of freshman against Klados in the third-flight. Pilch took the first set 6-1, but the second set went to a tiebreak, only for Pilch to emerge victorious 7-6 (7-3).

Bentley improves to 4-8 on the season and 4-1 in NE-10 play, while the Skyhawks drop to 10-4 and 3-1 in NE-10 matches. The Falcons' next scheduled match is next Tuesday afternoon at American International.
