WALTHAM, Mass. – A dozen members of the Bentley University men's and women's swimming and diving teams were recognized by the Northeast-10 Conference this week for their performance in Saturday's season-opening wins over Wheaton College. Among the honorees were senior Paul Homorodean (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran HS), freshman Anthony Vizental (Concord, Calif./ Clayton Valley HS) and senior Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield HS).

Homorodean was the NE10 Men's Swimmer of the Week and also part of the Men's Relay Team of the Week. Logozzo received NE10 Women's Diver of the Week for the fifth time in her career and Vizental was the choice as the NE10 Men's Swimming Rookie of the Week.

Bentley swept the two Relay Team of the Week awards. On the men's side, Homorodean combined with senior Alper Alkaya (Milan, Italy) and sophomores Oscar Chang (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West HS) and Mark Zona (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) for a Northeast-10 season-best time of 1:36.24 in the 200 medley relay.  For the women, freshman Kathryn Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS), with a split of 24.50, anchored Bentley's 200 free relay team that took first in 1:39.30 at Wheaton. Sophomore Lucy Slowe (Millis/Millis HS) led off and was followed by senior Lea Guldemond (West Newbury/Central Catholic HS) and junior Emily LaRovere (Lynnfield/Phillips Exeter Acad.).

Homorodean competed in three individual events, as well as the relay, in the opener and earned victories in each. His individual wins came in the 100 breaststroke (59.83), 100 freestyle (48.03) and the 100 butterfly (51.32). All his times were the best recorded in the conference thus far this season.

Logozzo captured the one-meter diving with a 222.53. She didn't compete in the three-meter event.

In his first meet as a collegian, Vizental posted wins in both the 200 butterfly (1:59.51) and the 200 individual medley (1:59.93), finished second in the 200 free (1:46.62) behind Zoda, and was part of the Falcons' winning 200 medley relay team (1:31.16). His times in the 200 IM and 200 medley relay were both NE10 season bests and the other two rank second on the conference performance list.

The Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll included Zoda, Galvin and sophomores Jeremy Glick (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) and Emily Sweet (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North HS).

Zoda swam to victory in both the 200 freestyle (1:44.12) and the 50 free (21.76), and also helped the Falcons capture both relays. Each of his times were NE10 bests for the week, and all but the 50 free were conference season-bests.

Galvin had an impressive collegiate debut for the Falcons with wins in the 100 freestyle (54.13) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.86). She also helped Bentley capture the 200 free relay (1:39.30) and was second in the 50 free (25.02). Her performances in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free relay put her at the top of the NE10 performance list and her 100 fly was the second best in the conference to date.

Sweet posted winning efforts in both the 1000 freestyle (10:55.44) and the 200 backstroke (2:10.51). She also finished third in the 100 back (1:02.06) and was part of a 200 free relay team that was fourth in 1:45.78. Her time in the 200 back was the best achieved so far in the NE10 this season and her 1000 free time put her second on the conference list.

Glick swept the diving during a season-opening dual win at Wheaton with scores of 205.65 from the one-meter board and 214.73 from the three-meter.

Both Bentley teams have lengthy dual winning streaks with the men unbeaten in their last 34 and the women in 22 straight.

The Falcons will compete twice this weekend, at Le Moyne College Saturday and against The College of Saint Rose at RPI Sunday.
