WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bentley University men's swimming and diving team finished day two of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with a 90.5-point lead after earning six medals, including two golds, and breaking four school records Friday night at WPI.

The night started with Bentley capturing the 200 yard free relay in 1:23.07, breaking the school record set a year ago by 0.57 seconds. Senior Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./Bergen Catholic HS) swam the anchor leg with sophomore Paul Homorodean (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran HS), junior Alper Alkaya (Milan, Italy) and freshman Mark Zoda (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) preceding him into the pool.

Bentley dominated the 200 individual medley with four of the top eight, including senior captain and NE10 champion Frank Elenio (Ridgefield, N.J./Bergen County Academies) at the top of the list. He swam to victory in 1:51.24 with his time an NCAA "B" cut and an improvement of 2.73 seconds over the school record he set in 2018.

Also in the 200 IM, freshman Zach Papsco (Northport, N.Y./Northport HS) was third, with his time of 1:53.77 also better than the former school record. Freshman Alec Lanza (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead HS) was fourth (1:56.07) and junior Matt Bandy (Manhattan, Kans./Manhattan HS) placed eighth (1:59.73).

Bentley had three of the top eight in both the 50 freestyle and the three-meter diving. In the former, Homorodean was second in a school record 20.98 seconds. That shave eight-hundredths off the standard owned by Sebastian Bury since 2015. Zoda was fourth in 21.09 and Alkaya seventh in 21.22.

Freshman Jeremy Glick (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) earned a bronze in the three-meter diving, posting a score of 362.50. Classmate Owen Busser (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) was fourth (298.15) and Connor Long (Hackessin, Del./Sanford School), also a freshman, placed sixth (270.05).

The final school record of the night came in the 400 medley relay with Bentley earning the silver in 3:24.36, an improvement of 4.83 seconds from the record that was set last year. Freshman Ellis Sartorio (Mountainside, N.J./Academy for Information Technology) led off and was followed by Papsco, Elenio and McGeary.

After the second of four days, Bentley has 411 points with Southern Connecticut State second with 320.5. A total of seven teams are competing.

Saturday's action will get underway at 10:15 am.
