WALTHAM, Mass. – With a win by either the men's or women's teams Saturday at Norwich University, Bentley University swimming coach and aquatics director Mary Kay Samko will record her 500th career victory.

Samko, a 37-year head coach, will take a record of 499-199 into the 1 pm meet. This season, her men's team has won four straight duals to extend its winning streak to 27 and the women's team is 5-0 with 15 straight victories.

In 23 years as Bentley's head coach, Samko has led the men's team to a 175-73 record and the women to a 231-66 record. She achieved her 400th career win with the Falcons earlier this season.

Samko arrived at Bentley in 1996 after six years as the women's coach at Tufts, five as the women's coach at Southern Connecticut State and three as both the men's and women's coach at the University of the South.

Overall, the Arlington resident is 313-114 coaching women's teams and 186-85 coaching men.

Saturday's meet will wrap up the team's first-semester schedule. The Falcons will return to action January 10 at St. Michael's.
