Elenio & Viator Named NE10 Swimmers of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University seniors Frank Elenio (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield HS) and Melissa Viator (Lubbock, Texas/Lubbock HS) have been recognized as the Northeast-10 Conference Swimmers of the Week for their performance in last Sunday's win over The College of Saint Rose.

The conference also recognized freshman Rona Mejiritski (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green HS) as the Women's Rookie of the Week. In addition, Bentley had both the Men's and Women's Relay Teams of the Week.

Elenio took first in both the 200 yard butterfly (2:00.69) and the 200 individual medley (2:03.23) as the Falcons stretched their dual win streak to 26. His time in the 200 IM elevated him to third on the NE10 performance list. Elenio was also part of a 400 medley relay team that was third in 3:41.61.

Viator swam to victory in both the 200 backstroke (2:11.68) and the 100 butterfly (1:02.27) with her time in the 200 back second best in the NE10 this season. She also finished second in the 100 back (1:01.94) and was part of the Falcons' 400 free relay that was second in 3:52.61.

Mejiritski entered the pool four times and earned first-place finishes each time. She recorded the NE10's third-best time of the season in the 500 freestyle (5:23.40) and her 2:00.45 in the 200 free was the fifth-best posted in the conference thus far. Mejiritski also helped Bentley win the 400 medley relay (4:08.63) and the 400 free relay (3:47.69).

The Falcon men swam the fastest 400 free relay of the year in the conference with sophomores Paul Homorodean (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran HS) and Clayton Bennice (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa HS) combining with junior Alper Alkaya (Milan, Italy) and freshman Mark Zoda (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) for a time of 3:14.47.

The Bentley women turned in the second fastest 400 yard medley time in the Northeast-10 this season, 4:08.63, during a winning effort at Saint Rose. Junior Paige MacNeil (Branford, Conn./Branford HS) led off and was followed by junior Ari Revalas (Snyder, N.Y./Nardin Academy), Mejiritski and freshman Lucy Slowe (Millis, Mass./Millis HS).

Also cited by the conference, with selection to the Weekly Honor Roll, were divers Owen Busser (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) and Ryann Driscoll (Marblehead/Marblehead HS).

Busser, a freshman, swept the men's diving with scores of 188.62 from the one-meter board and 179.27 from the three-meter. Driscoll, a sophomore, was victorious off the three-meter board (198.87) and the runner-up in the one-meter (194.95).

The next meet for the women is Saturday at Merrimack while the men's team is off until next Friday when they'll be in action at Brandeis.
