Bentley Stretches Dual Win Streak to 22 with 159-78 Win over Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass. – With the meet even at 18-apiece following two events, Bentley University sophomore Jarod Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./University HS) captured the 200 yard freestyle to put his team in front to stay and the Falcons went on to a 159-78 victory over Babson College in men's college swimming at the Babson pool Tuesday night.

The victory boosted the Falcons to 9-0 on the season and extended Bentley's dual win streak to 22 in a row.

Yoshihara, one of three double-winners for coach Mary Kay Samko's team on the night, posted a winning time of 1:48.27 to best senior teammate Aidan Karam (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) by 1.57 seconds.

Later in the meet, Yoshihara swam to victory in the 100 backstroke, finishing in 54.77 seconds.

Junior Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./Bergen Catholic HS) and senior Juan Quiroga (Bogota, Colombia) also doubled for the Falcons. McGeary was first to the wall in the two distance free races, swimming the 1,000 in 10:03.61 and the 500 in 4:55.35. Quiroga swept the diving with scores of 207.15 off the one-meter board and 186.75 from the three-meter.

McGeary also anchored Bentley's swimming 400 free relay team that also included sophomore Alper Alkaya (Milan, Italy) and seniors Jonny Boains (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) and Chris Vukas (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS).

Alkaya also took first in the 100 free (49.14) and freshman Paul Homorodean (Milford, Conn./ Joseph A. Foran HS) swam to victory in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.31).

Bentley will look to complete a second straight undefeated dual season next Wednesday at Bridgewater State.
