Yoshihara & Boains Help Bentley Swim Past St. Michael’s for 19th Straight Dual Win

WALTHAM, Mass. – After helping the Falcons capture the meet-opening 400 yard medley relay, senior Jonny Boains (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) and sophomore Jarod Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./University HS) each won two individual events as Bentley University made it 19 straight dual victories with a 161-96 win over St. Michael's College in men's swimming and diving action Tuesday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.

In the team's first meet in nearly a month, Boains and Yoshihara combined with sophomore Sam Trozenski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon HS) and freshman Tanner Fales (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast HS) for a winning time of 3:46.52 in the relay. That bested Bentley's B relay by 1.78 seconds and the St. Michaels entry by 7.18 seconds.

Boains achieved individual victories in the 50 breaststroke (29.62 seconds) and the 50 butterfly (24.89) while Yoshihara turned in winning efforts in the 50 backstroke (26.50) and the 500 freestyle (4:57.20).

Junior Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./Bergen Catholic HS) and senior diver Juan Quiroga (Bogota, Colombia) also doubled for the Falcons. McGeary swam to victory in the 200 free (1:50.12) and the 200 breast (2:18.76), leading 1-2-3 Bentley finishes in both events. Quiroga swept the diving, putting up a 217.28 off the one-meter board and 180.30 from the three-meter.

Also recording individual wins for the Falcons were senior Chris Vukas (Randolph, N.J./ Randolph HS) in the 100 free (50.36), junior Frank Elenio (Ridgefield, N.J./Bergen County Academies) in the 400 individual medley (4:30.69), sophomore Dimitry Stelmah (North Reading/North Reading HS) in the 100 fly (2:07.40) and freshman Clayton Bennice (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa HS) in the 50 free (23.23).

Bentley, 6-0, has two more home meets this week, Friday at 2:00 against Pace University and Saturday at 1:00 against Keene State.
