Logozzo & Men’s Relay Team Recognized by Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University sophomore Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./ Wethersfield HS) and the Falcons' 400 yard freestyle relay team were both recognized by the Northeast-10 Conference for their performance this past weekend in the Gompei Invitational at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Logozzo was honored as the NE10 Women's Diver of the Week for the second time and Bentley claimed Men's Relay Team of the Week honors for the fourth time in the last six weeks.

During the meet, Logozzo teamed with freshman Ryann Driscoll (Marblehead/Marblehead HS) to finish third in the 25 yard synchronized diving relay, placed fourth in the one-meter diving (3:40.55) and was sixth in the three-meter diving (3:26.40).

In the final event of the three-day meet, seniors Chris Vukas (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) and Jonny Boains (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) combined with sophomore Alper Alkaya (Milan, Italy) and junior Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./Bergen Catholic HS) to swim the 400 free relay in 3:11.38, placing eighth overall. Their time was a Northeast-10 season-best.

Three other Bentley swimmers were also recognized with selection to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll. They were junior Kate Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS), senior Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Meriden HS) and sophomore Jarod Yoshihara (Orange, Calif./Irvine HS).

Kaduboski was third in both the 200 individual medley (2:09.51) and the 400 IM (4:33.99). She was also fifth in the 200 backstroke (2:06.93) and 17th in the 200 butterfly (2:14.33). She achieved the fastest 200 IM and 400 IM times in the conference this season, along with the second fastest 200 backstroke. Kaduboski was also part of four relays.

Niemiec broke the school record in the 100 individual medley (1:00.24, an improvement of .09) while finishing second. She was also second in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.70), fourth in the 200 IM (2:09.75) and seventh in the 400 IM (4:38.13), including two that placed fifth. Her times in the 200 breast and 200 IM were second best in the NE10 this season and she also swam the third fastest 400 IM.

Yoshihara was the runner-up in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:54.36, best in the Northeast-10 this season. In other individual events, he was ninth in the 100 back (54.06), 16th in the 200 free (1:47.12) and 38th in the 100 fly (54.58). His times in both the 200 free and 100 back rank fourth in the NE10 performance list. Yoshihara also participated in three relays.

Bentley's final meet of the first semester is Sunday at home against Norwich.
