Homorodean Named Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University freshman Paul Homorodean (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran HS) has been named the Men's Swimming Rookie of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference following his outstanding performance in the Falcons' win over Brandeis University.

Against the Judges, Homorodean finished first in the 100 breaststroke with his 1:02.31 fourth best posted in the NE10 this season. He also helped the Falcons capture the 400 medley relay in 3:38.55, placed second in the 100 butterfly (53.72) and finished seventh in the 200 individual medley (2:12.49).

His breaststroke and butterfly times were both season-bests for the freshman. His other season-bests are 49.40 seconds in the 100 freestyle, 1:54.53 in the 200 free and 2:04.46 in the 200 individual medley.

Five other Falcons were recognized with selection to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll: seniors Jonny Boains (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) and Juan Quiroga (Bogota, Colombia), junior Kate Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS), sophomore Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield HS) and freshman Selin Karadeniz (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington HS).

Boains led Bentley against Brandeis by swimming the conference's second-fastest 100 free of the season (1:46.91) and third-best 200 individual medley (2:02.10). In addition to winning both those events, he touched first in the 100 free (48.99) and was part of the Falcons' 400 medley relay that placed first in 3:38.55.

Quiroga swept the diving with winning scores of 2:11.72 from the one-meter and 164.33 off the three meter.

Kaduboski entered the pool seven times during a 2-0 week and earned seven first-place finishes (five individual, two relay). She helped Bentley capture the medley relay in both meets, touched first in both the 200 butterfly (2:15.74) and the 500 free (5:25.56) against Merrimack and posted winning times in the 200 free (1:59.59), 200 back (2:09.95) and the 200 individual medley (2:12.34) against Brandeis. Her time in the 500 back was good for fifth on the season's NE10 performance list.

Logozzo swept the diving events against Brandeis, turning in scores of 224.84 on the one-meter board and 215.02 from the three-meter. She also had a meet-best score of 189.01 in the one-meter against Merrimack, the only diving event contested.

Against Merrimack, Karadeniz finished first in both the 200 breast (2:36.19) and 200 individual medley (2:18.97), and was also part of the Falcons' winning 400 medley relay (4:10.89). Two days earlier against Brandeis, she was second in the 200 breaststroke (2:36.07), fourth in the 200 IM (2:20.75) and part of a 400 medley team that was fourth in 4:28.26.

Bentley returns to action Dec. 1-3 with the Gompei Invitational at WPI.
