Bentley Captures Final Relay to Stretch Winning Streak to 15, 159-141 at Le Moyne

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Ahead by nine points heading into the meet-ending 200 yard freestyle relay, the Bentley University men's swimming team needed to finish either first or second during Saturday's meet at Le Moyne College's Vincent B. Ryan Pool to keep its winning streak alive.

The quartet of senior Chris Vukas (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS), sophomore Alper Alkaya (Milan, Italy), junior Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./Bergen Catholic HS) and freshman Clayton Bennice (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa HS) delivered, winning the event by more than three seconds with a 1:28.58, a Northeast-10 season-best.

That gave Bentley a 159-141 win over the Dolphins and stretched the squad's dual win streak to 15, dating back to January 2015.

Bentley won the meet despite finishing first in only six of 14 individual events with sophomores Jared Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./University HS) and Daniel Sausto (Slingerlands, N.Y./The Doane Stuart School) double-winners.

Sausto took first in both the 1000 freestyle (10:28.11) and the 500 free (4:56.14), the latter third best in the NE10 so far this season. Yoshihara's clocking of 1:47.72 in the 200 free was fourth best in the NE10 to date and he took the 200 back in 1:59.28.

Bentley's other winners were McGeary in the 200 back (1:47.72, third best NE10) and junior Frank Elenio (Ridgefield, N.J./Bergen County Academies) in the 200 butterfly. His time in that event was the best in the conference so far this season.

Bentley, 2-0, will host Saint Rose Sunday in the home opener.
