Bentley Quartet Gains Relay Team of Week Honors in NE10

WALTHAM, Mass. – After posting a winning effort at Wheaton College in the season-opener, a quartet of Bentley University men's swimmers have been recognized as the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Relay Team of the Week. They are senior Chris Vukas (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS), sophomore Alper Alkaya (Milan, Italy) and freshmen Clayton Bennice (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa HS) and Paul Homorodean (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran HS).

The four completed the relay in a conference season-best 1:28.71, winning the event by 0.11 seconds as Bentley completed a 178-116 meet victory. The Falcons have now won 14 straight dual meets, dating back to January 2016.

Three other Falcons – seniors Jonny Boains (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) and Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Maloney HS), along with sophomore Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield HS) – were also recognized with selection to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll.

In his first meet of the season, Boains was a triple-winner for the Falcons, capturing the 100 yard freestyle (49.44), the 200 free (1:47.27) and the 200 individual medley (2:03.88). Each of those times ranked in the top three in the NE10 this season. He also was part of a 200 medley relay team that was second in 1:40.56.

Niemiec began her senior year by placing first in both the 200 breaststroke (2:30.72) and the 100 breast (1:09.33) at Wheaton. She was also part of the Falcons' 200 free relay (1:41.90) and 200 medley relay (1:52.70), both of which finished second.

Logozzo was second in both diving events, with scores of 219.00 in the one-meter and 196.20 in the three-meter.

Bentley's next meet is Saturday afternoon at Le Moyne College.
