Bentley Swim Teams Honored by CSCAA for Academic Success

The Bentley University men's and women's swimming and diving teams received Scholar All-America Team Awards from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for their academic performance during the spring semester.

Eight Bentley University student-athletes, including three members of the Class of 2018, were recently chosen for Academic All-Northeast-10 honors in swimming and diving. No other conference institution had more than four swimmers and divers earn Academic All-Conference honors in swimming.

Bentley University seniors Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Maloney HS) and Juan Quiroga (Bogota, Colombia), along with freshman Paul Homorodean (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran HS), were honored by the Northeast-10 Conference for their performance in the Falcons’ final dual meet of the season.

For the sixth time this season, a quartet of Bentley University swimmers have been recognized as the Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Relay Team of the Week. Earning the latest honor was the 400 yard free relay team for their performance at Babson College.
Bentley Swims Past Bridgewater State, Completes 2nd Straight Undefeated Dual Season

The Bentley University men’s swimming team completed a second consecutive undefeated dual meet season and extended its winning streak to 23 with a 176-120 win over Bridgewater State University Wednesday evening at the Dr. Mary Jo Moriarty Pool.

Bentley University seniors Jonny Boains (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) and Juan Quiroga (Bogota, Colombia) have been selected as the Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Swimmer and Men’s Diver of the Week, respectively, following their outstanding performances last week. In addition, junior Melissa Viator (Lubbock, Texas/Lubbock HS) was recognized as CollegeSwimming.com’s Northeast-10 Women’s Swimmer of the Week.

With the meet even at 18-apiece following two events, Bentley University sophomore Jarod Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./University HS) captured the 200 yard freestyle to put his team in front to stay and the Falcons went on to a 159-78 victory over Babson College in men’s college swimming at the Babson pool Tuesday night.

Six-foot-eight junior Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./Bergen Catholic HS) swam to victory in two individual events and helped the Falcons take both relays as the Bentley University men’s swimming and diving team won its 21st consecutive dual meet, 209-87 over Keene State College Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.

After helping the Falcons capture the meet-opening 400 yard medley relay, senior Jonny Boains (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) and sophomore Jarod Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./University HS) each won two individual events as Bentley University made it 19 straight dual victories with a 161-96 win over St. Michael’s College in men’s swimming and diving action Tuesday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.
