WORCESTER, Mass. – Members of the Bentley University men's swimming and diving team broke school records five times on Sunday while finishing second in the four-day Northeast-10 Conference Championships at WPI.

Bentley totaled 715 points during the championships to trail only six-time repeat champion Southern Connecticut State (884). Le Moyne was third in the seven-team field with 589.5 points.

Senior diver Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS) was the only Falcon to make a trip to the awards podium during the meet's final day as he was third in the three-meter diving two days after winning gold from the one-meter board. Bridge posted a score of 376.70 to finish 22.95 points back of four-time champion Josh Byrne (Le Moyne). Also in the diving, juniors Gregory Coleman (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North HS) and Nick Cilia (Brentwood, N.H./Exeter HS) were fourth and fifth, respectively, with scores of 286.10 and 256.20.

The assault on the record book was led by senior Timothy Connolly (Dorchester/Boston Latin Academy) and freshman Frank Elenio (Ridgefield, N.J./Bergen County Academies). Connolly, during his final collegiate meet, broke two individual records (100 back, 200 back) and was part of three new relay standards, including the 400 free in the meet's final event.

In that one, he combined with junior Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS) and seniors Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS) and Nick Toselli (Barrington, R.I./ Barrington HS) to place fourth. Their time of 3:07.52 bettered the mark set two years ago by six-hundredths of a second. Bury and Toselli were part of that previous record.

Connolly also improved on his own record in the 200 backstroke (1:54.42) by finishing fourth in 1:53.55. Also in that event, sophomore Christopher Vukas (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) was sixth (1:57.65) and junior Matt Ahlmeyer (Morris Plains, N.J./Morristown HS) eighth (2:00.32).

Elenio finished fourth in the 200 butterfly while breaking the school record twice. He turned in a 1:53.85 in the prelims and was nearly a full second faster in the finals with a 1:53.05. That bettered the record of 1:55.84 set by current senior Alex Liulakis (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly HS) two years ago. Liulakis was also in the finals this year and finished eighth in 1:56.73.

The other record was achieved by freshman Matt Gwozdecke (Bristol, Conn./St. Paul Catholic HS) during a time trial in the 100 butterfly. He recorded a 23.05 during the first 50 yards, breaking the standard of 23.46 that had belonged to Egen Ouellette since 2011.

Sixth-place finishes were achieved by Bury in the 100 free (47.15) and senior Owen Karl (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton HS) in the 1650 free (16:41.99). Freshman Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./ Bergen Catholic HS) was seventh in the 1650 and Bentley received eighth-place finishes from sophomore Aidan Karam (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) in the 1650 and McGeary in the 200 breast. Karam broke the 1000 free record during the course of swimming the 1650 as his time of 9:56.26 bettered the previous standard of 9:57.35 he set in 2015.
