Bridge & Freestylers Carry Bentley to 163-125 Win over Roger Williams

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS) broke a pair of Bentley University diving records and his teammates went 1-2-3 in all five freestyle events as the Falcons captured their home opener, 163-125 over Roger Williams University Friday night in men's college swimming.

Bridge won the one-meter diving with a 305.85, a score that met the standard for the NCAA prequalification meet and broke his own school record by 2.85 points. He had set the previous mark last November.

Bridge, in a winning effort in the three-meter, took possession of the school record that Matt Cupps owned since January 2001. His score of 297.95 bettered the Cupps' mark by 4.25 points.

The Falcons' winners in the freestyle events were senior Nick Toselli (Barrington, R.I./ Barrington HS) in the 50 (22.60), senior Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS) in the 100 (49.87), senior Owen Karl (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton HS) in the 200 (1:48.92) and 500 (5:03.96), and freshman Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./Bergen Catholic HS) in the 1000 (10:35.89). Karl's time in the 200 was the third fastest recorded by a Northeast-10 Conference swimmer thus far this season.

Senior Tim Connolly (Dorchester/Boston Latin Academy) had two times that cracked the NE-10's top five list. He won the 100 backstroke in 55.81 (fourth best) and took second in the 200 back (2:03.43, third best).

The Falcons took both relays with Bury, sophomore Christopher Vukas (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) and freshman Matt Gwizdecke (Bristol, Conn./St. Paul Catholic HS) involved with both. They teamed with sophomore Jonny Boains (Unionville, Conn./ Farmington HS) for a 1:41.96 in the 200 medley, and with Toselli for a 1:29 in the 200 free.

Bentley, 1-2 on the season, will host Saint Rose on Nov. 15.
