Bentley Men Swim Past Norwich for 3rd Win in 4 Days, 139-88

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – It was all Bentley University as the Falcons won all 13 events and took second in ten events for a 139-88 victory over Norwich University in men's college swimming at the Goodyear Pool Saturday afternoon. It was the Falcons' third in in four days.

Bentley had three swimmers who were double-winners: sophomore Matt Ahlmeyer (Morris Plains, N.J./Morristown HS), freshman Tim Boains (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) and sophomore Dennis Witol (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt HS).

Witol won the meet's longest event with a 10:58.22 in the 1000 yard freestyle and also touched first in the 200 butterfly (2:09.28). Boains prevailed in both the 200 and 500 free, with times of 1:50.57 and 5:10.61, respectively. Ahlmeyer was victorious in both the 100 individual medley (59.52) and the 200 backstroke (2:04.93).

Junior Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS), who set a pair of school records in Friday's meet with Brandeis, collected the maximum points in both one-meter diving events, with scores of 162.55 and 240.45.

The other individual winners for Bentley were junior Tim Connolly (Dorcester, Mass./ Boston Latin Academy) in the 100 free (50.11), senior Rene Faria (Caracas, Venezuela) in the 50 free (22.52) and sophomore Jerrod Zimmer (Middletown, Conn./Middletown HS) in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.45).

Bentley also captured both relays with junior Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Sr. HS) swimming the opening leg of each.

Bentley, 4-3, will compete in the WPI Gompei Invitational Dec. 6-7.
