Le Moyne Edges Bentley by 2 despite Strong Showing by Bury

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University junior Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS) touched the wall first three times, but in the end, Le Moyne College prevailed, edging the Falcons 150-148 in men's college swimming action Sunday afternoon at the Dana Center.

The meet was even at 131 with two events left, but the visiting Dolphins picked up 15 of 19 points in the 200 yard individual medley to clinch a tie. Tim Buff and Ben Verdi went 1-2 in the event for Le Moyne with times of 2:02.03 and 2:06.94, respectively.

Bentley answered by taking 13 of 17 points in the closing 200 free relay, but it wasn't quite enough for the Falcons. Winning that event for the home team were Bury, freshman Chris Vukas (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) and sophomores Liam Bartlett (Syracuse, N.Y./William Nottingham HS) and Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS), with a time of 1:29.85.

Bury, in addition to the relay win, had the best time in both the 50 free (22.56) and the 100 free (49.72), and also helped Bentley to a second in the 200 medley relay (1:40.37). The Falcons went 1-2-3 in the 50 with senior Rene Faria (Caracas, Venezuela) and Bartlett following Bury.

Bentley's other winning performances were posted by Wilson in the 200 free (1:50.43) and Vukas in the 100 backstroke (55.80).

Junior Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS) was second in both the one- and three-meter diving events, and senior Josh Witty (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS) also had two seconds with times of 56.03 in the 100 back and 2:03.23 in the 200 back.

Bentley, 0-2, will look for its first win Friday night when it competes at Roger Williams University.
