Hodsdon, Wilde & Walsh to Represent Bentley in NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University junior All-America Jessica Hodsdon (Brewer, Maine/ Brewer HS) will make her second straight appearance in the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships, with this year's event being held in Mansfield, Texas March 14-17.

Hodsdon is number five on the qualifying list in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.50. That's slightly better than the 1:03.65 she posted in the event at the 2011 NCAAs to earn a sixth-place finish and NCAA Division II All-America honors.

Hodsdon, who has her name next to eight school records (four individual, four relay), is also seeded 24th in the 100 butterfly, with a time of 56.89 seconds, and is 30th in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.60).  In the latter event, she placed 18th at last year's championships.

Also making the trip to Texas will be Bentley divers Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS), a senior, and Paige Wilde (Naugatuck, Conn./Holy Cross HS), a freshman. They have earned the right to compete in a pre-qualifying meet on March 13, with 18 of 27 men's divers  and 22 of 31 women's divers advancing to the championships.

Walsh, the Northeast-10 Men's Diver of the Year, set a pair of school records this year, both off the one-meter board. He had a six-dive score of 295.65 against Keene State and recorded a 453.59 for 11 dives against Gordon.

Wilde finished second off the one-meter board at both the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships and the Northeast-10 Championships, and also won bronze at the NE-10s. She posted a 403.19 on the one-meter board against Gordon to qualify for the chance at the nationals.
